Spider & Varicose Vein Treatment
Spider veins and varicose veins affect millions of people and can cause both cosmetic concerns and physical discomfort. At Dr. Christine Blom Aesthetics, we offer safe, effective vein treatments to reduce their appearance and restore smoother, clearer skin on the legs and face.
Our vein treatments are performed by Dr. Blom, whose medical background ensures a thorough assessment and precise treatment approach for every patient.
Sclerotherapy is the gold-standard treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins. A sclerosing solution is injected directly into the targeted vein using an ultra-fine needle. The solution irritates the vessel wall, causing the vein to collapse and fade as the body gradually reabsorbs it over 4–8 weeks.
For very fine facial veins, broken capillaries, and small spider veins that are too delicate for injection, laser or IPL-based vein treatment targets the haemoglobin in the vessel with precise light energy — causing it to collapse and be reabsorbed without injections.
After sclerotherapy, you may experience mild bruising, redness, or swelling at the injection sites, which resolves within 1–2 weeks. Compression stockings are recommended for 48–72 hours post-treatment. Avoid strenuous exercise and prolonged sun exposure during the healing period.
FAQ
Most patients experience minimal discomfort — the injections use ultra-fine needles and the procedure is well-tolerated. Some patients feel a mild stinging or cramping sensation that passes quickly.
Veins gradually fade over 4–8 weeks as the body reabsorbs the treated vessels. Full results are typically visible 3 months after your last session.
Treated veins are permanently eliminated. However, new spider veins can develop over time, particularly with a genetic predisposition. Periodic maintenance treatments can address new veins as they appear.
We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 48–72 hours after sclerotherapy. Walking is encouraged to promote circulation and healing.
