Intense Pulsed Light for Even, Radiant Skin
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy uses broad-spectrum light to target a variety of pigment-related skin concerns — from sun damage and age spots to rosacea and broken capillaries. Unlike laser treatments that use a single wavelength, IPL delivers multiple wavelengths simultaneously, making it uniquely versatile for treating complex skin issues in a single session.
IPL is ideal for patients who want to address overall skin tone and texture without invasive procedures or significant downtime.
Protective eyewear is worn throughout the session. A cool gel is applied to the treatment area, and the IPL handpiece delivers quick flashes of light. Most patients describe the sensation as a light snap or warmth. A typical facial IPL session takes 20–30 minutes.
After treatment, pigmented spots may temporarily darken (this is normal — they will flake off within 1–2 weeks). Redness typically resolves within a few hours to a day.
Most clients see significant improvement after 3–5 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the severity of the concern and individual skin response. Maintenance sessions 1–2 times per year help sustain results.
FAQ
IPL is most effective for lighter to medium skin tones. Darker skin tones may carry a higher risk of pigmentation changes. During your consultation, we'll assess your skin type and recommend the safest, most effective approach.
This is a normal and expected response. The IPL causes pigmented cells to rise to the surface, temporarily darkening before they naturally flake off within 1–2 weeks — revealing clearer skin beneath.
We recommend avoiding makeup for 24 hours post-treatment. After that, you may resume your normal routine, though we always recommend SPF protection on treated areas.
Yes — IPL pairs well with medical facials, chemical peels, and micro-needling for a comprehensive skin rejuvenation program. Your provider can recommend the ideal combination for your goals.
